Play Ball! Tryouts for SAG-AFTRA New York’s Softball Team, March 13
When: 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 13
(May go until 2 p.m.)
Where: De Witt Clinton Park at 52nd Street and 11th Avenue
(This field is AstroTurf, so dress accordingly: athletic wear, no jeans or dress shoes)
This year, as in years past, SAG-AFTRA will be fielding a co-ed softball team as part of the Performing Arts Softball League. Games are played on Mondays at 11 a.m. in Central Park at the Hecksher fields. Tryouts will be held at De Witt Clinton Park, located at 11th Avenue between 52nd and 54th Streets.
Basic softball skills and experience are required, but professional ball players are prohibited per league rules. You will be representing SAG-AFTRA in friendly competition. There is no fee to join.
No need to RSVP; just show up at the tryout time with your current paid-up membership card. Managers from other league teams may be present during tryouts, and if you do not make the SAG-AFTRA team you may have the opportunity to try out for another team later in the afternoon if invited.
Games begin in April and continue into September (if we make the playoffs like we did last summer), but players may join mid-season if spots are open. If you can run, hit and cheer loudly for your teammates, you are welcome to join us and be part of the team.
Questions? Send an email with “SOFTBALL” in the subject line to email@example.com.
Thanks and see you out there!
This event is only open to paid-up SAG-AFTRA members in good standing — no guests are allowed. Parents/guardians of performers under 18 years old are welcome. SAG-AFTRA members, please bring your membership card (paid through April 30, 2017) for admittance.
