Jay Disney (SAG-AFTRA Chicago Board Member, Co-chair of the Chicago Local Background Committee and member of the SAG-AFTRA National Background Committee) will give an in depth presentation on SAG-AFTRA background  work.

  • What are zones? Where are they?
  • What are the different quotas?
  • How did this system evolve?
  • Anything you want to know about union background, but more importantly, what you need to know.

A panel discussion follows with casting director Darlene Hunt of Extraordinary Casting and two SAG-AFTRA actors who work union background in New York and Los Angeles. Darlene Hunt casts independent features, small roles for major films and TV shows, principals in commercials as well as union and non-union background here in Chicago. Karen Cole splits her time between Chicago and New York making a living doing union background work. Phillip Sanchez works union and non-union background work in Chicago and union background work in Los Angeles regularly. If you plan on attending the W&W meeting concerning background performers for the Film and Theatrical Contract then you need to be at this event!
