SAG Celebrates the Actors and Filmmakers of AFI FEST 2010 Presented by Audi

Los Angeles (November 11, 2010) - SAG members such as Oscar® winner Halle Berry, Clark Gregg (Ironman, (500) Days of Summer, SAG National Board member), John Heard (Home Alone, Entourage), RJ Mitte (Breaking Bad), Bobby Naderi (The Tacqwacores), Vik Sahay (Chuck), and Rupak Ginn (Royal Pains) attended Screen Actors Guild, SAGindie and AFI FEST 2010’s presented by Audi Breakthrough Filmmakers Party Tuesday, November 9 at the historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.

SAG Reaches Tentative Agreements on Basic Cable and Animation Contracts

Screen Actors Guild Reaches Tentative Agreements for Successor Contracts to the Basic Cable Live Action, Basic Cable Animation and TV Animation Contracts

Screen Actors Guild today announced that tentative agreements were reached on Wednesday, November 10, on new, three-year contracts covering basic cable live action, basic cable animation and television animation productions.

The current contracts expire on June 30, 2011, and the new three-year agreement will be effective from July 1, 2011, through June 30, 2014.

I am honored that the SAG New York membership has chosen to allow me to serve them on the National Board for one more term. But I am even more grateful that they have seen fit to elect the proven leaders who ran with me on my team. National election results also seem to indicate that the vast majority of our members are currently, and I think wisely, in favor of merger.

Here in Hollywood, and throughout the country, Guild members overwhelmingly elected leaders who believe SAG and AFTRA should unite to form a single union. Previous 1st Vice President Anne-Marie Johnson said members delivered a mandate, noting, “They want to merge, and they want it taken care of as soon as possible.” I agree.

SAG General Counsel Named to POWER UP Top 10

Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, who represents Screen Actors Guild as general counsel and deputy national executive director, was named to POWER UP’s 10 Amazing Gay Men in Showbiz list for 2010. He received the award at the 10th Annual Power Premiere Celebrity Gala on November 7 in Hollywood.

POWER UP is a non-profit organization known for its award-winning short films that advance the careers of gay women filmmakers. Two years ago, the group created the men’s list in addition to the 10 Amazing Gay Women in Showbiz list, which has been presented for the past decade.
