SAG/AFTRA Dancers Committee chair Bobbie Bates was honored with the Dancers in Solidarity Award on March 27 at the 2011 Dance Track Magazine Artist Awards for her efforts to improve working conditions and the professional lives of dancers and choreographers.

Women’s Committee Spotlights Phylicia Rashad

She is known around the world as Clair Huxtable from The Cosby Show, but on Monday night Phylicia Rashad demonstrated that she is much more than a favorite TV mom.

The event, Phylicia Rashad – A Woman of Distinction: Her Story, was organized by the SAG National Women’s Committee and the SAG Foundation and took place at SAG Headquarters in Los Angeles. Carrying herself with a rare grace, humility and a serene charisma, Rashad charmed the capacity audience with tales of a remarkable life and a deep love of acting and the arts.

SAG Members Join Thousands at Saturday's Rally for Workers in Los Angeles

Screen Actors Guild members joined thousands of people in downtown Los Angeles Saturday to show solidarity with fellow unions. Since Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker launched an attack on public sector unions’ right to collective bargaining, labor groups have been staging rallies around the country and gathering support to fight back. SAG Remembers the Life and Legacy of Elizabeth Taylor

Screen Actors Guild remembers the extraordinary life and career of Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor, who died today at the age of 79. The Oscar-winning actress and pioneering AIDS activist had been hospitalized in recent weeks for congestive heart failure.

"Her legacy will never fade, her spirit will always be with us, and her love will live forever in our hearts," son Michael Wilding said in a statement released by the family.
