LOS ANGELES and NEW YORK (Feb. 9, 2014) – The National Board of Directors of SAG-AFTRA met in a scheduled one-day video plenary this weekend at both the James Cagney Board Room in Los Angeles and the New York Board Room in the recently opened New York office.
President Ken Howard opened the meeting in memory of the members who have passed away since the last national board meeting in September, including a special dedication to former Washington-Mid Atlantic President Kirk Penberthy who died a week ago.
SAG-AFTRA honors the life and legacy of Philip Seymour Hoffman. Nominated for seven Screen Actors Guild Awards, he won the Actor for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor for his title role in the 2005 film "Capote."
LOS ANGELES (Jan. 29, 2014) –– Yesterday, a federal court judge dismissed the remainder of a lawsuit against SAG-AFTRA filed by Ed Asner. In his order, United States District Court Judge Manuel L. Real found the court had no jurisdiction over the case because Asner has provided no evidence of the union withholding records that he or any other member of the union have access to review.

NEW YORK (Jan. 22, 2014) — SAG-AFTRA N.Y. is now open!
Today, SAG-AFTRA officially opened its New York office, marking its arrival at One Lincoln Plaza, 1900 Broadway. This new space, across from Lincoln Center, serves as one of two national offices and houses the New York Local. The new location brings together all staff who previously worked in two locations since the March 2012 merger.
