Applications are now available for the 2013 round of the SAG Foundation’s John L. Dales Scholarships and the AFTRA Foundation’s Heller Memorial Scholarships. The SAG Foundation and AFTRA Foundation are proud to support qualified SAG-AFTRA members and their dependents in reaching their academic potential.
Both scholarships are competitive and require an essay in addition to application materials. The Dales application deadline is Friday, March 15, 2013 and the Heller application deadline is Wednesday, May 1, 2013.
SAG-AFTRA National Agency staff will hold a bi-coastal educational seminar on general service agreements, or GSAs (i.e. the contracts that some agents have been using to represent our members instead of the standard Legacy SAG agency contracts). These GSA contracts are signed outside of SAG-AFTRA’s protection, and it is imperative that members have a working knowledge of what these contracts say before signing them — your professional future and your income may depend on it.
BOSTON (March 1, 2013) — Following an extensive search, SAG-AFTRA announced today the appointment of a new Executive Director for its New England Local, Susan Nelson of Vernon, CT. Nelson officially assumes the position today.
Nelson joins SAG-AFTRA with more than 25 years of experience in labor relations. A graduate of the University Of Connecticut School Of Law, Nelson is known for her skill in mediation and negotiation.

NEW YORK (February 14, 2013) – Representatives of the Joint Policy Committee and SAG-AFTRA today commenced negotiations on successor agreements to the commercials contracts.
Today's talks were cordial and positive and both groups look forward to productive bargaining under a jointly agreed upon media blackout already in effect.

LOS ANGELES and NEW YORK (Feb. 2, 2013) – The National Board of Directors of SAG-AFTRA met in a scheduled one-day video plenary this weekend at both the James Cagney Board Room in Los Angeles and the Leon Janney Board Room in New York.
The Board approved a package of proposals for commercials negotiations presented by Assistant National Executive Director for Contracts Ray Rodriguez. The proposal package was recommended by the W&W Plenary Committee and Commercials Negotiating Committee.
