Your SAG-AFTRA negotiating team has been hard at work bargaining with the major studios and networks represented by the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) for a new three-year contract covering motion pictures, television and new media. We had hoped to be sharing the good news that we had reached a tentative agreement with the AMPTP but, unfortunately, their unwillingness to come to a fair and equitable agreement means we are coming to you with very different news.

June 25, 2017 — The SAG-AFTRA National Board of Directors today voted to release the independent investigatory report commissioned by the union to address accusations of staff wrongdoing made in press statements and written communications issued in April 2017 by a group calling itself United Screen Artists Committee.

The 22-page report by the respected accounting firm Bond Beebe was delivered to the board during its special meeting. The report refutes all allegations and exonerates all named staff and members of the false accusations in the USAC letter.

SAG-AFTRA members and staff kick off LGBT Pride Month by showing their support for equality and human rights on June 11. The union’s National LGBT Committee organized a team of more than 40 members who met in Hollywood to walk in solidarity for peace and civil rights for all.

In a joint statement issued today, the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) announced they will commence negotiations on successor agreements to the SAG-AFTRA TV/Theatrical contracts on Wednesday, May 31, 2017. The talks will take place at AMPTP headquarters in Sherman Oaks, Calif.

SAG-AFTRA has reached a tentative agreement with Uptown Productions that covers production of Nickelodeon exhibition programs. The new four-year agreement was reached on May 3 following negotiations that began on December 6, 2016 in Los Angeles.

On May 2, SAG-AFTRA held its annual Rock the City event, sponsored by Backstage, at its national New York office across from Lincoln Center. Hosted by the New York Local Board and the New York Host Committee, the eight-year-old event brought together the city’s entertainment and media labor organizations, production studios, broadcasters, recording artists and influencers for an evening of industry networking.
