SAG-AFTRA mourns the passing of Paul Napier, a founding member of the Screen Actors Guild Awards show. Napier died Feb. 21 at the age of 84.
Did you know recording artists and session singers are not paid anything when their performance is played on AM/FM radio? Our effort to fix this long-running inequity with our recording artist members is gaining momentum. It is long past due for recording artists to gain a performance right (royalty) for their music when it is played on AM/FM radio. However, radio broadcasters are fighting this effort with a deceptively named resolution called the Local Radio Freedom Act (LRFA).

SAG-AFTRA mourns the tragic loss of SAG-AFTRA member and 60 Minutes correspondent Bob Simon. He was 73.
Simon was best known for his more than four decades as a CBS News reporter, as well as his work as a 60 Minutes correspondent since 1996. His fearless work covering major overseas conflicts since the 1960s earned him respect and many awards, including four Peabody awards, 25 Emmy awards and Overseas Press Club’s highest honor, the President’s Award.

As many of you already know, Anthem, who provides the Health Plan with access to their provider network, experienced an extensive IT security breach last week. While credit card and medical information doesn't appear to have been stolen, personal information and identity details were compromised, such as: Names, Addresses, Email addresses, DOBs, and Social Security numbers.
Los Angeles (Feb. 6, 2015) – On Sunday, Feb. 8, the SAG-AFTRA Los Angeles Local will recognize actor, filmmaker and moderator Timothy Blake with its 2015 Ralph Morgan Award, the local’s highest honor for a member. Ms. Blake will be honored during the annual Los Angeles Local Membership Meeting at the Sportsmen’s Lodge in Studio City.
