Employees at KPCC Vote to Recognize SAG-AFTRA as Their Union
LOS ANGELES (January 18, 2013) - SAG-AFTRA Today Released the Following Statement:
We’re pleased and excited with the results of the union election at KPCC. We are looking forward to working with the new SAG-AFTRA bargaining unit in partnership with KPCC management to negotiate a first contract.
The new bargaining unit will cover 65 reporters, producers, show hosts and news anchors at KPCC and is moving forward to negotiate a first contract.
Peoria Ratifies New Contract with WEEK TV and WHOI TV
Peoria (August 23, 2012) —Today, members of the SAG-AFTRA Peoria Local ratified a new contract with Granite Broadcasting, operators WEEK TV and WHOI TV. The contract is the result of a difficult negotiation process that has lasted for almost two years.
"On behalf of the Local SAG-AFTRA Membership, we want to thank the community for all of their support during our campaign to save local news. Without your support, we are confident we would not have reached a deal," said Local President Garry Moore.
We Support -- AFTRA in its efforts to Organize Music Videos
LOS ANGELES (March 29, 2012) - Screen Actors Guild fully supports its sister union, the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, in its efforts to organize music videos. Music videos are an area of intense production, in which members must be adequately covered by union contracts.
AFTRA and representatives from Sony, UMG, Warner, EMI, Disney and subsidiaries did not reach an agreement in negotiations and on March 24 the AFTRA National Board of Directors authorized its Administrative Committee to issue a “do not work” order for music videos.

As many as 2,000 SAG members and producers tuned in concurrently via a live online stream on Wednesday, November 30, 2011, to learn details of the new SAG Production Center, which allows producers to download forms and rate sheets, and in many instances sign online, saving substantial time and avoiding the headaches of the paper-based manual approach. SAG Members Join Thousands at Saturday's Rally for Workers in Los Angeles
Screen Actors Guild members joined thousands of people in downtown Los Angeles Saturday to show solidarity with fellow unions. Since Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker launched an attack on public sector unions’ right to collective bargaining, labor groups have been staging rallies around the country and gathering support to fight back. Bradley Whitford, Gabrielle Carteris Rally With Unions in Wisconsin
Screen Actors Guild member Bradley Whitford (Good Guys, The West Wing) and SAG and AFTRA National Board member Gabrielle Carteris (My Alibi, Beverly Hills, 90210), along with other SAG and AFTRA members, joined tens of thousands of protesters in Madison, Wis. on February 26, in a show of solidarity with Wisconsin workers.
