SAG Foundation L.A. Short Film Showcase Seeking Submissions
The Screen Actors Guild Foundation is now accepting short film submissions and web series from all states west of the Mississippi for its August 2013 Short Film Showcase. Submissions must be postmarked by Monday, June 3. All entries postmarked after that date will be placed in contention for the Foundation's April 2014 event.
There is no entry fee, nor is there a cost to attend the screening, which is held in Los Angeles, twice a year.

George was instrumental in helping organize TNN (The Nashville Network), testified at the FCC hearings on media consolidation, and even wrote a letter of support to country DJ’s at an AFTRA Twin Cities radio station. Thank you George, for sharing your voice and music with us, for your continual support of all recordings artists and musicians, and for giving us so many memories that will never fade.
Commercials Contracts to be Ratified by Electronic Voting
On April 21, the SAG-AFTRA National Board approved the deal reached with the ad industry Apr. 7 on new television and radio commercials contracts. The contracts will result in $238 million in wage increases and other payments for all categories of performers, improvements in cable use fees, increases in payments for work on the Internet and new media platforms, and an increase in the late payment fee. Formal negotiations between SAG-AFTRA and the advertising industry began on Feb. 14 and concluded April 6.
SAG-AFTRA Statement on Casting Tapes Auction
LOS ANGELES (April 2, 2013) -- SAG-AFTRA considers the right of performers to control the use of their image to be of utmost importance and we vigorously protect those rights. Our collective bargaining agreements include protections for performers against exploitation of audition and interview tapes, which must be erased upon performers’ request. Failure to comply with such a request will result in formal legal action pursuant to the agreements.
Notice: Upcoming Deadline for Category Designation to Run for or Serve as Local Officer, Local Board Member or Convention Delegate Representing a Work Category or Group of Categories
Pursuant to the SAG-AFTRA Constitution, Locals may designate one or more Local Officer, Local Board, or Convention Delegate position(s) for members in a particular work category or group of work categories. Except as otherwise specifically provided in your Local Constitution, if you wish to be eligible to run for one of these Local designated category positions, you must be registered in that category no later than April 1, 2013. Members who change their category after that date will be ineligible to run for those Local-designated category positions.
SAG-AFTRA Members Support Those with Leukemia
SAG-AFTRA New York Local Co-President Holter Graham is battling leukemia and, along with thousands of others, is beginning the marrow transplant process. All performers know that even a soliloquy takes more than one person. This is an opportunity for us to pull together and offer our support to the many people fighting this disease.
