With all the news of hacking and identity theft, the online world can be a scary place. To arm members with the knowledge they need to protect themselves, the SAG Hollywood Division held a special presentation titled Protecting Yourself in a Cyber World on December 7, 2011 at SAG headquarters in Hollywood.
It was another successful year for the Hollywood Holiday Host Committee’s Annual Winter Celebration. More than 650 members turned out to celebrate the season with their fellow actors on December 14 at Screen Actors Guild headquarters in Los Angeles. Ned Vaughn, SAG’s 1st national vice president, spoke to the assembled crowd and offered well-wishes for the holidays. In this eighth year of the event, members once again demonstrated their generosity, as donation boxes overflowed with food for AIDS Project Los Angeles and toys for The Village Family Services.
As many as 2,000 SAG members and producers tuned in concurrently via a live online stream on Wednesday, November 30, 2011, to learn details of the new SAG Production Center, which allows producers to download forms and rate sheets, and in many instances sign online, saving substantial time and avoiding the headaches of the paper-based manual approach. Using the power of laughter to turn holiday loneliness to joy, the club is transformed into a wonderland where people from all walks of life are welcome to come and enjoy turkey, stuffing, and the trimmings. Top comedians will greet and serve guests, as well as perform live shows following each of four meal servings throughout the day.

In Los Angeles County alone, 51,000 people are homeless. Each year thousands join together to do their part by fundraising and spreading the word that homelessness is a solvable problem.
