Meeting in Orlando, Florida, for its annual Screen Actors Guild Regional Branch Conference, leaders of the Regional Branch Division were welcomed today by Jennifer Pennypacker, Orlando Film Commissioner and President of Film Florida. "It is a true honor for Orlando to be hosting the Regional Branch Division this weekend," she said. "We are grateful for the role Screen Actors Guild plays in establishing and sustaining the local industry."
Los Angeles (February 9, 2011) - Screen Actors Guild announced today that actors Dan Fitzgerald of the Florida Branch and Will Lyman of the Boston Branch will be the co-recipients of the 3rd Annual Howard Keel Award for their significant contributions to the Guild. The Howard Keel Award is the highest honor given by the Screen Actors Guild Regional Branch Division, and will be presented in May at the Regional Branch Division's annual Regional Branch Conference in Orlando, Florida.
The news for Screen Actors Guild Portland Branch actors was good Wednesday as incoming Governor John Kitzhaber announced his 2011-12 budget, with Oregon's film tax credits intact and increased. Under "Revenue Changes" in his report, Kitzhaber recommended "an expansion of the Film Development Tax Credit." He said putting Oregon on the big screen is key to bringing in revenue, and he is boosting the production tax credit by $10 million a year.
