Danny Woodburn Takes Home Harold Russell Award

Los Angeles – Actor Danny Woodburn was honored October 8 with the Screen Actors Guild Harold Russell Award at the Media Access Awards in Beverly Hills. He received the recognition for his union advocacy on behalf of performers with disabilities.

SAG Mourns the Loss of Tony Curtis

September 30, 2010 — Screen Actors Guild is saddened by the loss of celebrated actor and former National Board member Tony Curtis, who died of cardiac arrest Wednesday at his home in Las Vegas. He was 85.

SAG Mourns Loss of Founding Member Gloria Stuart

Los Angeles (September 27, 2010) — Screen Actors Guild deeply mourns the passing of founding member Gloria Stuart, whose contributions to her union, the film industry and world of fine art were a legacy second only to the humanity by which she lived.

Stuart, who won a Screen Actors Guild Award for her role as Old Rose in Titanic, a performance which also garnered Oscar and Golden Globe nominations, turned 100 on July 4 of this year.

She died Sunday at her home in Los Angeles.

CCH Pounder, Kal Penn Honored at Tri-Union Diversity Awards

SAG National Board Honors Gloria Stuart

Gloria Stuart, one of Screen Actors Guild’s first members and one of the Guild’s first board members has been recognized by the National Board of Screen Actors Guild for her accomplishments and years of service to the union.

SAG NED David White Named Tops in Entertainment Law by National Bar Association

New Orleans (August 12, 2010) — Screen Actors Guild National Executive Director David White has been named “Entertainment, Sports & Art Law Section Attorney of the Year” by the National Bar Association, the oldest and largest association of African American lawyers and judges. The honor was presented to White today in New Orleans at the NBA’s 85th Annual Convention & Exhibits. 
 

CCH Pounder, Kal Penn to be Honored at Ivy Bethune Tri-Union Diversity Awards

LOS ANGELES (August 10, 2010) – The Equal Employment Opportunities/Diversity Committees of Screen Actors Guild (SAG), Actors’ Equity Association (AEA) and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) announced today the 8th Annual Ivy Bethune Tri-Union Diversity Awards, recognizing performers and arts organizations who, through their work and activism, have fostered diversity within the entertainment and news media industries and their communities. The theme of the 2010 program is a celebration of those who challenge and change preconceptions.
