SAG-AFTRA mourns the passing of Charles Durning, an army veteran, acclaimed actor and 2007 SAG Life Achievement Award honoree. Durning died Dec. 24 at age 89.
SAG-AFTRA mourns the passing of astronaut Neil Armstrong, one of our greatest American heroes who contributed significantly to this country’s spirit of adventure and scientific curiosity. Armstrong died Saturday at age 82.

Accomplished composer Alan Silvestri was lauded by his peers at a special evening in his honor on October 27.
Organized by Screen Actors Guild Hollywood Singers Committee, Meet the Composer III took place at the Writers Guild Theater in Beverly Hills and highlighted Silvestri’s contributions to film and television, including CHiPs, Starsky and Hutch, the Back to the Future trilogy, Forrest Gump, The Abyss, Predator, Stuart Little, and many others.
Los Angeles (Oct. 6, 2011) — Actor Marlee Matlin was honored today with the 2011 Screen Actors Guild Harold Russell Award at the 2011 Media Access Awards. The awards, held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., aims to raise awareness of people living with disabilities and seeks to have them represented accurately in television and film.
Union Plus has awarded $150,000 in scholarships to 130 students representing 43 unions, including four representing Screen Actors Guild in the 2011 Union Plus Scholarship Program.
Screen Actors Guild congratulates scholarship recipients:
•Evan Griffith of New York, NY, whose parents Edward and Lisa Griffith are both SAG members, has been awarded a $500 scholarship.
•Jan Neuberger of Newtown, CT, who has been a SAG member since 1974, has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
