Election Eligibility Reminder

Next year, SAG-AFTRA will hold elections for many of its top leadership positions. In order to meet the November dues period good-standing eligibility requirement to be nominated for election as a national officer, National Board member, local board member or convention delegate, members should ensure that their 2014 November dues bill payment is received by SAG-AFTRA no later than Dec. 10, 2014.

National Board Extends NED Contract, Ratifies Animation Agreements

LOS ANGELES (Oct. 12, 2014) — The SAG-AFTRA National Board, meeting this weekend in a face-to-face plenary in Los Angeles, extended David White’s role as National Executive Director and authorized a new four-year contract in that capacity, expiring Oct. 12, 2018. Details of the agreement are confidential and were not disclosed.

SAG-AFTRA National Board of Directors Meets in Los Angeles

Los Angeles (Oct. 1, 2013) – The SAG-AFTRA National Board of Directors met Monday and Tuesday and reviewed several administrative, finance and governance matters, including setting a start date for Wages and Working Conditions meetings for the upcoming SAG-AFTRA TV/Theatrical contracts negotiations.
 
This was the first meeting of the first-elected National Board of SAG-AFTRA, which followed the union's four-day convention in Los Angeles.

SAG-AFTRA Announces Gabrielle Carteris Elected Executive Vice President at National Convention

Los Angeles (Sept. 26, 2013)—SAG-AFTRA today announced that Gabrielle Carteris has been elected as executive vice president of the union. Carteris was elected to the two-year term at the inaugural SAG-AFTRA Convention in Los Angeles. Her term begins immediately.

A total of 303 ballots were cast in the election that consisted of three candidates. Carteris received 66.5 percent of the vote, Mike Hodge received 23.22 percent, Jane Austin received 10.28 percent. Millie Wright was also a candidate.

National Committees

There are a variety of ways in which a member can serve the union and national committee service is a great way to lend your talents, experience and knowledge of the industry to benefit the union and its members. Service on local committees is also an option and information for serving on a local committee in your area will be made available in October.

Ken Howard and Amy Aquino Elected National President and National Secretary-Treasurer of SAG-AFTRA

Los Angeles (August 15, 2013) — SAG-AFTRA today announced the results of elections for its top two elected positions. Members have re-elected Ken Howard and Amy Aquino to lead the union. Howard will serve as the first elected national president of SAG-AFTRA and Aquino as its first elected secretary-treasurer. Both previously served the Screen Actors Guild for two consecutive terms prior to merger, and each served respectively as co-president and co-secretary-treasurer of SAG-AFTRA following the merger in 2012. Their two-year terms begin today.

2013 SAG-AFTRA Candidate Elections

Los Angeles (July 12, 2013) –  SAG-AFTRA today released the official rosters of candidates for its upcoming elections.

National president and national secretary-treasurer positions are up for election, both of which carry two-year terms. All national board seats are up for election this year, along with all local officer, local board, and convention delegate positions.

The executive vice president and other vice presidents will be elected at the inaugural SAG-AFTRA Convention in September.
