regional SAG-AFTRA actors, March 9-13
LOS ANGELES (March 4, 2014) – Entertainment and media union SAG-AFTRA is partnering with South by Southwest (SXSW), the world’s leading music industry event, for a six-hour music showcase on March 11 featuring up-and-coming artists, including Wardell and Hudson.
SAG-AFTRA Sound Recordings and SXSW present The Show at Buffalo Billiards, taking place 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. on March 11 at 201 E. 6th St. in Austin, during the annual SXSW Music Festival. The event is for ages 21 and over only.
All SAG-AFTRA members who work the Basic Cable Live Action Agreement are invited to attend this caucus. The purpose of this caucus is to hear the issues and concerns from the membership regarding the upcoming Basic Cable Live Action Agreement negotiations. This agreement expires on June 30, 2014. The caucus is open to all paid-up members and participation will be limited only by fire rules.
Mary Hart (Entertainment Tonight) hosted the SAG-AFTRA Inaugural National Convention Celebration dinner event on Sept. 27 during the convention’s second night, featuring a trio of special recognition ceremonies and a musical performance led by Dorian Holley (The Tonight Show with Jay Leno).
The celebration honored members and employers with awards recognizing commitment to service, diversity and leadership.
The third day of the SAG-AFTRA National Convention welcomed Secretary of Labor Thomas Perez, who thanked the leadership for their work “during this exciting time for the union.”
“As you embark on this remarkable journey together as one, the fact of the matter is people can’t play you off each other anymore. That’s really important,” he said. “I want to thank you for the work that you do. While I go into the court of law, you go into the court that is much bigger. That’s the court of public opinion – winning the minds and hearts of the people.”
