Los Angeles (April 2, 2010) — Screen Actors Guild mourns the passing of John Forsythe, a SAG National Board member from 1975-78, who has died at the age of 92.
An actor who began his six-decade career on stage and appeared in numerous films, Forsythe became best known for his television work as the affable Bachelor Father (1957-62) and scheming oil tycoon Blake Carrington on Dynasty (1981-89). Forsythe also lent his voice to the unseen character of Charlie Townsend on Charlie’s Angels in both the television series (1976-81) and two feature films.
Publicist Harlan Boll said Forsythe died late on Thursday in Santa Ynez, California from complications of pneumonia, following a year-long battle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife, Nicole, his son and daughter-in-law, Dall and Ana Marie Forsythe, his two grown daughters, Page Courtemanche and Brooke Forsythe, as well as six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family says there will be no public service for Forsythe, and they request those wishing to honor his memory make donations to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
