According to the Triangle Business Journal, film production in North Carolina is anticipated to generate over $300 million in in-state spending in 2012, far surpassing last year’s record-breaking numbers for the state. These productions are bringing thousands of jobs to the state for both actors and crew members as well. Over 35 productions have filmed or will be filming in 30 of North Carolina’s counties.

Longtime SAG-AFTRA member and former steward, Gail Pennybacker signed off of the DC airwaves for the last time on July 20, 2012. Ms. Pennybacker has been covering local, national, and international news on Channel 7 for over 26 years. She started her career in Topeka, Kansas before moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma and then finally WJLA in 1986.

The Washington-Baltimore Local of SAG-AFTRA was excited to learn that Pat Moran, one of the premiere casting directors in the area, was nominated for “Outstanding Casting in a Comedy” for her work on VEEP as well as “Outstanding Casting in a Miniseries, Movie or a Special” for the HBO movie Game Change. Over the course of her career as a casting agent, Ms. Moran has had seven Emmy nominations and one win for the NBC series Homicide: Life on the Streets. Ms.

The Screen Actors Guild National Board of Directors on April 30 unanimously recommended member ratification of a successor agreement to the SAG and AFTRA Non-Broadcast/Industrial/Educational Contracts.

On Monday, April 25, the AFTRA National Administrative Committee of the AFTRA National Board of Directors also unanimously recommended member ratification of a successor agreement.
