The Philadelphia Local Board is asking all members between the ages of 18 and 35 to consider getting involved with our newest committee: Philadelphia NextGen (working title).  

This group will look at the social and professional issues facing “younger” members, and seek to create events and activities to address this demographic in the Philadelphia area.

It has come to our attention that some number of people in the Philadelphia area may not have received a health premium invoice for the quarter beginning July 1, 2014 from AFTRA Health & Retirement. The due date for the July 1 quarter was June 24, 2014. However, we are now in the 30-day late payment period which ends on July 24, 2014 and you are still able to submit your payment to the Funds. We’re in the home stretch. Less than a month remains to push for improving our PA Film Tax Incentive Program, and we need you. We have two bills we would like to see passed: Senate Bill (SB) 1313, sponsored by Senator Wayne Fontana, which would recover millions in unused credits from previous years, and SB1035, sponsored by Senator Dominic Pileggi, to uncap the credits.

The SAG-AFTRA Philadelphia Board of Directors has voted to terminate the website waiver that permitted franchised agents in the Philadelphia Local to charge a yearly fee to performers for including photos/resumes on their website. All Philadelphia agents have been advised that this termination will go into effect on June 1, 2014.

HARRISBURG, PA (May 5, 2014) --- Rep. Tom Murt and the Pennsylvania Assembly will declare May “SAG-AFTRA Month” in the state. SAG-AFTRA is the largest union of television and film actors, radio and television broadcasters, stunt professionals, singers, sound recording artists and dancers in the country, with close to 3,000 members in Pennsylvania.

To commemorate the struggles of those who came before us, SAG-AFTRA members and their families are invited to join other union members, leaders and friends of the Pennsylvania labor community at the Solidarity Rally & Picnic.

When: Noon, Saturday, May 3
