Register today for the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge, an annual weekend-long short film competition April 21-23. Entrants--with or without a disability--are given 55 hours to make a three-to-five-minute film based on an assigned genre that will showcase disability in its many forms, expand the audience’s understanding of disability today, and inspire people to join the conversation. Sign up today and join in this opportunity to bring awareness of the disability community through filmmaking and storytelling.

Prepare for the 2017 Easterseals Disability Film Challenge with Founder Nic Novicki and directors, actors, writers, crew members and more from the New York disability community, the New York film community and the New York disability film community. Learn more about the process of making a film over a 55-hour weekend, receive advice and tips from Nic, and network and collaborate with other attendees. Filmmakers will have the opportunity to recruit talented cast members and crew for their film, so bring your own team or create a new one during the meetup.

New York Local Office Closure, March 14

Due to impending severe weather in the area, the SAG-AFTRA New York Local will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, March 14. All scheduled meetings and events for tomorrow are cancelled.

Join NYWIFT, SAG-AFTRA, the School of Visual Arts Film Department, African-American Women in Cinema, Women in the Arts & Media Coalition, Women Make Movies, African-American Women in Cinema (AAWIC) and HerFlix at the SVA Theatre on Saturday, March 25, for a screening of the documentary Girl From God's Country: The History of Women in Film and Other War Stories by director Karen Day in recognition of SWAN (Support Women Artists Now) Day, an annual event on the last Saturday of March that celebrates women artists. There will be a Q&A and reception following the screening.
