Michigan Local Members,
SAG-AFTRA Wages & Working Conditions meeting will be scheduled soon in preparation for negotiation of the TV/Theatrical-Exhibit A contracts that expire on June 30, 2014. All members who work the TV/Theatrical-Exhibit A contracts are encouraged to attend and participate.

All W&W Committee meetings are open to all paid-up members. Please bring your current membership card (paid thru April 30, 2014) for admittance.

If you would like to connect with your local’s board and other SAG-AFTRA members, please join us for coffee (or other beverages) so that we can all share stories and concerns, answer questions or just commiserate about working in our industry here in Michigan.

The Screen Actors Guild Foundation is now accepting submissions from all states east of the Mississippi for its October 2013 NY Shorts Showcase – it’ll be the launch of year five!
The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 22. All entries received after that date will be placed in contention for our January 2014 event.
Webseries produced under a union contract are also eligible for consideration.

Thanks to the generosity of Emagine Entertainment and Phoenix Theatres, SAG-AFTRA members in Michigan can attend showings of SAG Award nominated films free of charge. A great member perk, this is a valuable opportunity for you, the member, to view the nominees before you cast your vote!
Here are the rules:
•        You must present your newest SAG-AFTRA card (paid-up member thru April 30, 2013) and photo ID.
•        The free ticket is for SAG-AFTRA members only, not accompanying friends or family.
•        This offer is valid between Jan. 3–24, 2013.

A CADET (Cultivating Actors with Direction, Experience and Training) is a middle or high school student who is not yet a SAG-AFTRA member, but who is serious about learning the fundamentals of a professional acting career. The CADET program – a series of four workshops – will help participants begin to build a foundation of technique, hard work and industry awareness. Workshops are conducted by professionals in the industry.

The first workshop is Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, 4 – 5:30 p.m., at the new SAG-AFTRA office at 21599 W. Eleven Mile Road, Suite 300, Southfield, MI 48076
