On Feb. 22 at SAG-AFTRA Plaza in Los Angeles, the union’s national Spanish-Language Media Committee, chaired by Hernan de Beky, presented a panel titled Show Me the Money: The Exciting World of Spanish-Language Dubbing to a packed house. The event, which brought together female Spanish-language dubbing artists, was co-sponsored by the Television and Equal Employment Opportunities & Diversity departments.

On Feb. 2, about the same time Punxsutawney Phil’s head came poking out of his central Pennsylvania groundhog home, the SAG-AFTRA Radio Players production team was loading into the Wells Fargo Theater, located at the Gene Autry Heritage Museum in Griffith Park, in preparation for the 21st recreation of two old-time radio scripts.

Beginning with last November’s intermingled NextGen Performers and SAG-AFTRA Conservatory mixer at Los Feliz’s Rockwell Table and Stage, the NextGen Performers have been on a roll with several popular events that regularly bring the union’s up-and-coming performers together. Since January, the NGP committee has organized three more gatherings at trendy locations around Los Angeles in which young members, some still new to the union, have been able to get to know their staff and network with fellow members while learning about various facets of the industry in popular L.A. locations.
