As part of a series of events focusing on casting opportunities for actors who have been historically overlooked in the entertainment industry, Casting Society of America (CSA) Diversity Committee will focus this month on *transgender performers. Performers will be given an opportunity to do a two-page prepared scene in front of a panel of two to three CSA casting directors. Please note, the reading will be taped and the reading is NOT for a job opportunity.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events raise money for the American Cancer Society's efforts to save lives and raise awareness about breast cancer prevention, as well as to honor survivors and remember those lost to breast cancer. Please join our team and walk in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event, and help us make it a special, fun day. If you can't join us, consider making a donation to help this wonderful cause.

We have been deeply struck by the magnitude of the devastation from Hurricanes Harvey and Irma and have been thinking about what we can do to help. SAG-AFTRA Chicago Local is proud to partner with Creative Relief, a group made up of Chicago’s creative agencies, in a united effort to raise funds for this cause.

Tue, 09/19/2017 - 16:00

In July, the Chicago Local hosted a captivating seminar led by actor and director Dawn Arnold to teach members the Michael Chekhov acting technique. Chekhov’s method is a way for actors to express personality and to find an inner life for a character before a performance. Actors tap into their creativity to create a character’s identity, including imagination, intellect and emotions.
