SAG-AFTRA members are strongest when standing together. We are united in our support of the organizing campaign for Droga5.

We believe all performers who work for Droga5 would benefit from union representation and want to make sure they understand their options. While Droga5 sometimes does work under our contracts, we also know that very often, they choose not to. When they don’t, the work is being done substantially below industry standards.

In another blow to quality local news coverage, Cumulus Media has closed KGO-AM’s South Bay Bureau. Since taking over KGO-AM in 2011, Cumulus has been widely criticized for cutting back on programming with a close connection to the Bay Area’s communities. In the latest move, an entire region that includes Silicon Valley and the City of San Jose and is home to 2 million residents has had their local reporting team eliminated.

Peoria (August 23, 2012) —Today, members of the SAG-AFTRA Peoria Local ratified a new contract with Granite Broadcasting, operators WEEK TV and WHOI TV.  The contract is the result of a difficult negotiation process that has lasted for almost two years.

"On behalf of the Local SAG-AFTRA Membership, we want to thank the community for all of their support during our campaign to save local news. Without your support, we are confident we would not have reached a deal," said Local President Garry Moore.

The contract will run until October of 2015.

AFTRA and representatives from Sony, UMG, Warner, EMI, Disney and subsidiaries did not reach an agreement in negotiations and on March 24 the AFTRA National Board of Directors authorized its Administrative Committee to issue a “do not work” order for music videos.
