In recent days, Screen Actors Guild has lost several members who each contributed greatly in their own way to the entertainment industry, leaving a long-lasting impression on audiences.

SAG mourns the recent passing of actors Rue McClanahan, Dennis Hopper, Gary Coleman, Lynn Redgrave and Dixie Carter. We send our heartfelt condolences to their families.

Screen Actors Guild mourns the passing of former SAG National Board Member Lena Horne. The legendary actor and jazz singer died Sunday, May 9, in New York City. She was 92. Horne was SAG’s first African American board member, serving from 1943-45.

Horne’s more than six-decade career began as a 16-year-old chorus girl at the fabled Cotton Club in Harlem in 1933, and would go on to span films, radio, television, recording, nightclubs, concert halls and Broadway.

Lucky Hayes, a long time Arizona Branch President and current Vice President Northern Arizona, passed away on April 9, 2010. Known and loved by hundreds all over the country, Lucky served in leadership roles in the Guild since 1992, first as Arizona Secretary/Treasurer and then as Vice President Northern Arizona, before being elected Arizona Branch President in 1995, a position she occupied until September 2009. She carried her SAG card proudly since joining in 1974.
