SAG-AFTRA joins in celebrating Women’s History Month throughout the month of March. The national chairs of the SAG-AFTRA Women’s Committee encourage everyone to do something this month that moves the world closer towards gender inclusivity.  

Notable this month is Wednesday, March 8, International Women’s Day, a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. And the last Saturday of March is Support Women Artists Now (SWAN) Day, a day to honor, salute and commend women artists.

ABC Casting is seeking original scene submissions for their upcoming Talent Showcase. This is a one night event produced by the ABC Casting Department to showcase new talent to an invited industry audience.

Last December, the joint SAG-AFTRA and AMPTP (Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers) Task Force on Disability met to find ways to facilitate increased audition opportunities for performers with disabilities for both disability-specific and non-specific roles. The AMPTP member companies were extremely receptive and immediately began to call upon available resources, including Inclusion in the Arts, which maintains a nationwide database of performers with disabilities.

Los Angeles (Sept. 28, 2013) –On Friday, the second day of SAG-AFTRA’s National Convention mixed business with educational opportunities for delegates.

The day’s business started with a video greeting from National President Ken Howard, who apologized for missing today’s sessions but who was working on a project and unable to attend. In Howard’s absence, the gavel was turned over to newly elected Executive Vice President Gabrielle Carteris who thanked the delegates for electing her and welcomed to the dais the seven newly elected vice presidents.
